First Getaway!

Ryan and I decided that we needed a little "get away" this weekend. On Thursday he came across the idea to of going to Eureka Springs, Arkansas Saturday night, and on Friday he booked us for the night at a cute little Bed and Breakfast called "The Carriage Inn." On Saturday, after work, we headed to Eureka. According to "mapquest" it is an estimated 4 1/2 hour drive, but of course it took us closer to 5 1/2 hours. We forgot to include the restroom breaks and bumper to bumper traffic.... So we were in the car a little longer than we wanted to be, but we had a blast talking about memories, red dirt music, friends, and the future. We spent a lot of the time just singing along to Stoney. When we made it into town it was already dark so we couldn't see anything, and we couldn't find the place that we were staying. Finally, at about 9 we found the place. It was adorable! We had our own little cottage with a kitchen, a balcony with a wonderful view, and a jaccuzi! We were a little relieved because we were kinda scared we'd be shacking up in some shady trailer park.

After we got settled in we drove to historic downtown and ate a yummy dinner at a cafe !
Sunday morning we woke up and enjoyed the beautiful weather and view from our porch. The couple who owned the place served us an amazing breakfast where they prayed with us and shared some really neat stories. After that we headed back to downtown to walk around. There is so much to see in Eureka. We went down memory lane and drove to where my sister and brother-in-law got married. Ryan showed me all of the places that him and his buddies went the last time they came here. To round out the trip we had lunch at cafe Luigi's and then headed back to Norman. It was a very quick getaway but it was very much needed and worth it!!

Well as of yesterday afternoon Rocky has a little sister! We have a new addition to The Martin Family! We kinda do not have a name for her yet.... Ryan wants to name her Stoney (after Stoney Larue) but we also like Mylie. What do y'all think? I am scared that the people that do not know who Stoney Larue is are going to think that we are stoners! haha! =) I know I shouldnt care... Wel she is adorable and Rocky loves her. Here is a picture of her. There will be more to come!

A fun weekend

YEA!! OU won!! Unfortunately I was not in Dallas to celebrate, however I was here in Norman (which was completely empty) and my mom and sister came to visit for the weekend. We had a such a great time!! And it was much needed!!

Ryan left for Dallas Friday afternoon and my sister and mom came in that evening. They met me at my work and we walked over to Victoria's (it's a pasta shop right around the corner from where I work) and had a salad, lots of bread and some pasta. It was yummy! =P To finish it off we walked over to Starbucks and grabbed a latte and sat outside. We chatted and laughed for about 2 hours. Around 11 we headed home and went to bed. I work @ 9 on Saturday mornings and my sister was my first client!! =) We got up went to Panera to have lattes and bagels for breakfast, then headed to the salon. We cut about 12 inches off her hair!! Its really cute. We colored it too!! Wish we took pictures. After work, we went shopping!! I forgot how exhausting shopping is! But we got lots of fun stuff! We ate dinner at The Mont and had margaritas!!=) My sis had a blueberry one and it was amazing!! Sunday morning we woke up early and I decided to ride with them back to Flower Mound. So, we drove to Flower Mound and I surprised Ryan. He was really confused @ first but it made him happy! I got to see my daddy and and Major too!! It was a wonderful relaxing day! Ryan and I drove back to Norman around 8:30. It is so hard for us to leave!! But we both had a GREAT weekend!!

This week has been such a blessing! Ryan went to a job fair Tuesday here in Norman on the OU campus. Tuesday afternoon we went to Ross and bought a new sharp-looking tie for him to wear with his brown suit. He looked HOT! =) I dropped him off so he would not have to walk in his suit. When I picked him up and hopped in the car with a huge smile on his face and some really good news. He got asked by four different companies to come back Wednesday morning for an interview. We were both so excited but did not want to get our hopes up. We celebrated by eating burritos at Moe's. YUM!
Wednesday morning was an early morning for Ryan. His first interview started at 8:30 and his last ended at 10:30. The interviews went really well. Two of the companies are paying for all his expenses to travel to them for second interviews. His first one is next weekend!! =)
Oh yeah!! The greatest news is that all of the companies that he interviewed with are in DALLAS, TX!!! We are both so happy about the locations.

We hope to find out where he will be working by mid November so that we can start looking for a house to rent!!

We are feeling so blessed this week and praise the Lord for his goodness!

A weekend of FUN

This weekend was a lot of fun!! Our friends Jackie and Chris came and stayed at our house. They are so nice and so much fun to hang out with. OU played on Saturday and kicked some butt!! The game was at 11am and Ryan works the games and had to be there at 6:30!! Craziness!! So who got the privilege to take him to work? Me! It was so nice though cause I ended up just going to the new Starbucks on Campus Corner(campus corner is across the street from campus and is filled with cute little boutiques and amazing places to eat...and the salon I work at is located there.) I was able to sit in a comfy chair with a good cup of coffee and read a great book. Although around 7:30 Starbucks was the place to be. When I left at around 9 there was still a line out the door. Game days are crazy on Campus Corner! I love it though! It is so much fun to see everyone dressed in Crimson and ready to go cheer on their team!!

Unfortunately, I had to work so I was not able to watch the game, but we listened to it on the radio. Jackie came and hung out with me while I was working and Chris went to the game. We all met and tailgated after the game. I love to tailgate because you get free food!! =)
Chris and Jackie took us out to eat cause they are so sweet! We went to On the Border(Ryan's favorite pace to eat.) Their queso is amazing!! We sat there forever and just talked about life and watched football. It was so relaxing! After dinner, Jackie and Chris introduced us to Brother's (its a very laid back bar that has really good music.) Ryan really enjoyed it cause they played Red Dirt Country! =) We had a blast with Chris and Jackie and can't wait for them to come back up here and visit us again!

Here are some pictures that I stole from Jackie. I wasn't able to take any cause my camera is broken. =(Jackie and Chris

Rainy Days

Its starting to rain again.... Rain is such a wonderful blessing but at times it can also be so blah! I am sitting here at work with a gloomy view outside. So I thought what a perfect time to blog...
Labor Day weekend was great! Ryan left Thursday night to go hunting at my dad's land. I think there was a total of 30 men out there..... Lets just say he had a blast!! I had to work Saturday so I stayed here in Norman Thursday and Friday night alone. It wasn't too bad, but defiantly weird being at home without Ryan. (however I was able to get a few chick flicks in). I drove to Flower Mound Saturday after work and arrived just in time for the 5pm service at The Village. It was such an amazing sermon like always! Saturday night I got to spend some quality time with my mom and sister which is always needed. We order Cristina's to go (one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Flower Mound.) YUM! I got to hang out with my 2 year old nephew Major. I can't get enough of him. He is ALL boy and you can tell he is 2!! He loves to wrestle and tickle though you never know if he is going to be your friend or not. Depends on the day.
Sunday night Ryan and I went to Cafe Itailia with Ryan's family for his parent's 29th anniversary and his mom's 50th birthday. It was delicious and is now on my list of favorites. Monday morning I met my friend Jackie for coffee and to catch up on life. I miss her so much. But hopefully it wont be too much longer till we are back in the same town again. Monday night my sister and I went to Anamia's for a drink and had a great time. I miss her so much and feel so blessed to be best friends with my sister. We are a lot a like but so different at the same time! I love her to death and cherish our times together!
I drove back to Norman yesterday morning in the rain. It was nice though cause I was able to finish a series I have been listening to through The Village Church. (If you have a minute download some of Matt Chandler's sermons from The Village Church.)
After a wonderful weekend it is so nice to be back in my home with my husband. I think tonight we might rent a movie!! =) I love movie nights!! Especially on rainy days..
